Sustainable Procurement

Cross laminated timber (CLT) panels are manufactured by sourcing sustainably managed forests. The development of CLT in the 1990s was motivated by the need for the sawmill industry to find a higher value use for the side boards of that time.

Wood is also the only primary structural material that grows naturally and is renewable. In fact, over the last 50 years, less than 2% of the inventory of standing trees in the USA has been harvested each year, while the net growth of trees has been 3%.
